As growing members in the clubs, we are always aiming to make the world around us a better place and the best way to do so is by getting the best out of ourselves!

Teach'n Learn Session 8: Perfumery 101

As part of our Teach N’ Learn Series, we had a session on Perfumery 101, given by our own Nour Sabra, founder of Essences. Essences is our member's small business which you can also support here

We were able to test different scents and create our own signature fragrance and learn the tips & tricks behind perfumery.

In a time of worldwide instability and uncertainty, it is our responsibility to promote strengthened social cohesion and equality. 

Rotaract Club De Beyrouth organized an interactive workshop in collaboration with ALEF-Act for Human Rights on the 24th of November, 2022 planned by Project Leader, Lena Zeidan. The session entailed the tools to become advocates for countering discrimination based gender, religion, and sectarianism. This led to enlightening discussions on our differences and the beautiful ways in which we can learn from and elevate each other within the Rotaract community. 

Alzheimer? Make It A Friendly Memory

The month of September is World Alzheimer's Month. Rotaract Club de Beyrouth took the opportunity to raise awareness on the importance of early prevention and detection. 

As part of World's Alzheimer's Month awareness, Rotaract Club de Beyrouth, in collaboration with Beirut Marathon Association, organized a talk concerning Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Georges Karam, Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist, talked about the prevention of Alzheimer's disease, and the importance of early diagnosis, and post-diagnosis support for patients. Miss Joanna Maria Farah, Licensed Dietitian, a club member, and the project's leader, presented the latest nutritional guidelines concerning the prevention of Alzheimer's disease. 

Remember, Alzheimer's is not a normal part of aging and if treated early, we can prevent the fast deterioration of the patients' mental and physical health. 

Teach'n Learn Session 7: Unleash Your Inner Writer

As part of our Teach'n Learn series, Lena Zeidan presented the tools to unleash our inner writer. With the steps of Ideate, Develop, Post, Lena provided us with the methods through which we can each express our thoughts and passions into words that can be shared through our club website's blog. 

Teach'n Learn Session 6: Build a Dropshipping Business in 24 Hours

In a step by step guide to create a successful business, Rami Ghazale presented the topic of E-commerce and dropshipping. As part of our Teach'n Learn series, Rami shared his hidden passion in the field by presenting different websites that facilitated the dropshipping process from A to Z. This session took place on the 30th of August, 2022 and provided us with tools to open the doors towards entrepreneurship and developing any business idea we may have. 

The Secret Recipe for a Lucky Pitch

To set the tone for our new Rotarian year, Rotarian, Mountaineer, Storyteller, and our favorite Mountain Turtle generously shared a Lucky Recipe based on her own pitching experiences on the 9th of  August  2022 at The Olive Grove. In a collaboration with Rotary Club de Beyrouth, Rotaract Club De Beyrouth organized this professional development session to present how we can each present our projects to potential investors to secure funding, from the Lebanese woman who has succeeded in raising more than half a million dollars to complete the Seven Summit Challenge. The session ended with members presenting their own potential community service project pitches to our Rotarians in which they applied the tips that the speaker had presented. As project leaders seeking to reflect positive change in the community, we aim to leave no stakeholder unreached and no lead unfollowed. This session provided us with the recipe to the successful engagement of different parties within the community to do just that. 

From De Bey to the District

Our Board Member, IPP Zina Yassine, has propagated her shine all the way to the district. In her usual fashion of inspiring, sharing knowledge, and impacting the professional development of everyone she meets, Zina has assumed the role of Rotaract Academy Liaison Officer. 

NFTs 

NFTs are the trend of the year, but do you know what they exactly are? Why are people buying them? And how to make money out of them? This is exactly what we covered! Rotary De Beyrouth along with its 3 Rotaract clubs: Rotaract de Beyrouth, de Beyrouth Millenium, and de Beyrouth USJ organized a PD session tackling everything you need to know about NFTs with Roberto Asseily, Co-founder and CEO of the Metapreuneurs.

Rotaract De Beyrouth organized on the 23rd of April 2022 a talk with Joulan Abdul Khalek at The Smallville Hotel, where young adults from all over Lebanon gathered to learn how to make the right decision and to exercise accurate judgment before next month’s elections. Joulan is an ex-economist at the World Bank and an independent senior industry specialist consulting for the IFC - International Finance Corporation. He has helped design and implement new technology initiatives in 21 countries around the world. He shared with us the 7 most important challenges that our country has been facing for decades, before explaining the true meaning of candidates’ independency. Then we played a game where we answered 10 questions to which every voter has to find answers from the candidates he is voting for. We portrayed our opinions on various topics ranging from social, economic, to political. Coming from different backgrounds, having different ages and genders, a miniature of Lebanon was united to learn about casting an informed vote for a positive change!

Teach’n Learn Session 5: Health and Fitness

With Summer coming up, and bringing our unsatisfied feeling with our physical progress, Elias Abi Najem, as part of the Teach’n Learn series, pushed our limits and taught us all we need to know about health and fitness so that we can achieve our goals! The event happened on Thursday, March31, 2022, at the Olive Grove Hamra, where Elias showed us some websites and Apps that can make our life easier, and gave us some personal tips that he discovered through his long successful journey as a professional Rugby and Badminton player!

Peace Keeping, Building, Managing

Peace, security, and a future are needs that people in the midst of violent conflict desperately want and seek. However, building back trust, livelihoods, institutions and relationships is a complex and long-term endeavor, full of steps forward and back. This is the task of peacebuilding in which Rotaract Club de Beyrouth tackled, alongside AUB’s PSPA Society on March 14, 2022 in Beirut Digital District through the esteemed speaker Dr. Zeina Mohanna.

Stand Out, Inside & Out!

Rotaract Club de Beyrouth organized a talk with the Image and Lifestyle Coach Ms. Christiane Hajjar, about first impressions, things we want our image to say, dressing according to our personality, and much more inside and outside our workplace! This event happened on February 15, 2022, at the Olive Grove, Hamra, and we all discovered our personality(ies) and how to style our outfits accordingly.

Teach’n Learn Session 4: Excel your EXCEL Skills!

On the 18th of January 2022, Yara Abdallah and Mohammad Sabbagh gave an Excel session as part of the Teach’n Learn series. People who used to feel like Excel is one of their weak points, and wanted to understand how Excel can make their life easier, came with their laptops, ready and excited to learn. Everybody had fun while getting acquainted for the first time with new functions and new features, and the session ended with a hands-on where all the learning outcomes were applied in a Rotaractly tailored excel exercise!

There is science behind our emotions and behaviors. Do you ever ask yourself why you procrastinate? Or why do you always choose the wrong person to date? In this session, Dr. Jad Wehbe, our international speaker, revealed the science behind our choices, mistakes, and lifestyles. We learned more about our personality and how it affects our mental health, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. This session helped us adopt a growth mindset and be the best version of ourselves. It helped us organize our thoughts and put us on track mentally and emotionally. 

Teach’n Learn Session 3: The Reflective Mindset of an Entrepreneur

As part of the Teach’n Learn series, SAA Elie Bassil gave a session on the 16th of November about entrepreneurship and how the mind works. This session was for anyone who wants to create an impact in his environment, because after all, an entrepreneur is any individual who decides to be a changemaker. Elie helped the members dig in their minds and unleash their courageous and innovative side. He talked about entrepreneurship, mental health, emotions, behaviors, creativity, innovation, strategies, books, research, pitching and so much more…

Ready, Always!

We all have been exposed to an emergency situation where we didn't know how to help. We all want to learn how to identify and manage the most common emergencies that we might face. That’s why Rotaract Club de Beyrouth organized a First Aid Training organized in partnership with Rotary Club de Beyrouth, and in collaboration with the Lebanese Red Cross.This event took place in the LRC Training Center (Minerva And Iskandar Najjar Building – Haret Sakher – Jounieh), on Saturday, February 5, 2022 The session included a presentation about the LRC work and the training center and certificates were provided upon completion of the training. 35 people attended in total, including 25 Rotaractors from many clubs: De Beyrouth, USJ, AUB and Kesserwen, alongside with 10 Rotarians from Club de Beyrouth. Some of the feedback we received: “This training was extremely informative, and I was able to learn a lot. Chapeau bas!” “More of such practical skills in all sectors should be acquired by civilians in community service for personal and communal benefits” “This is the best training I’ve had so far in all ways possible. Every detail was super organized and the information I learned is impeccable!”

Teach'n Learn Session 2: Posters Workshop

Stephanie Saad, a member of Rotaract Club de Beyrouth, decided to give the club a Canva and Photoshop workshop, as part of the "Teach'n Learn" series. It happened on Thursday, the 28th of October at Olive Grove, where everybody learned some extremely helpful tips and tricks, not only in creating posters, but also social media posts, stories, and presentations.

Pink Game Night

Rotaract Club de Beyrouth organized a fun night like no other filled with games and lots of cupcakes. The aim was to raise awareness around breast cancer by tackling different topics, starting from general knowledge information around breast cancer, to the methods for its detection in all stages, ending with the post detection process. Each phase of learning consisted of a different type of game (Kahoot, Mix and Match answers, Fast Q&A). It is worth mentioning that Rotaract Saida, Rotaract Kesrouan, and Rotaract Baabda made this night even better with their presence, enthusiasm and smiles! “Early Detection Saves Lives.”

Interview Role Play

Rotaract Club de Beyrouth organized an exceptional Interview Role Play workshop for people who want to stand out and nail every interview, and are tired of all the cliché interview tips! The workshop was given by the expert in Human Resources Mr. Mohammad Mays, and Human Resources Professional Ms. Aya Jamal, who made sure to tackle all types of interviews and all characters of interviewers. They provided customized interview questions based on the attendees’ field and CV, as well as on-the-spot tips after each role play.

 Teach’n Learn Session 1: From a Vision to Film

Rotaract Club De Beyrouth launched an internal series of PD events this year, called “Teach’n Learn”. Its aim is to give the floor to every member who wants to talk about something he loves / his work field / his experiences … After all, everyone is an expert from a different background, but at the same time eager to learn more and to widen his perspectives! The first session, entitled “From a Vision to Film”, was given by the amazing director Fayez Bou Khater: Ever wondered how a simple idea that crosses one’s mind can be transformed into a film that can be watched by everyone, anytime and forever? Well, Fayez happens to be doing it almost every day! On Monday September 6, 2021, Fayez shared with the club some insights and guidance about transforming a vision into a beautiful film. He started by presenting some extraordinary facts about cinema and videography, then revealed what are the most important criteria that make a movie exceptional and finished by a practical demo of filming and acting skills where everyone got to hold the cam and film, before receiving on-the-spot feedback from the one and only Fayez!
